Start Fresh! Day 2: For Real, Let It Go
Yesterday I talked about how you should release the failures of the past and move forward. And, today I feel the need to reiterate: Let go of the past and move forward in God's grace.
Sometimes we can be our own worst critic, accuser, judge and jury. It's only natural. Our brains hold all the memories, emotions, and connections to everything that's happened to us. We instinctively want to protect ourselves from more harm and danger. Attempting to try again at something that hurt us before will naturally bring up our internal defenses.
So if you are going to embrace the purpose God is calling you to, you are going to have to employ your spiritual offensive weapons to cut through the negativity and break into purpose. To get this accomplished, we can all take the lesson from Paul:
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and achieve the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:13, 14
Paul knew what God was calling him to accomplish. Despite being arrested, beaten, thrown out of synagogues, ridiculed by his former peers, fleeing in the middle of the night from people looking to take his life, and constantly living his life on the run... Paul chose to forget the setbacks and continue to press toward the call God had for his life.
He didn't let the past dictate shutting down his purpose. In spite of the painful memories, painful scars, and painful betrayals, Paul chose to continue to press forward in what God had called him to do. As a result, Paul's purpose was fulfilled, and he continues to guide people in their walk with Christ to this very day.
Have you gone through anything similar to Paul? Take it from someone who's been there. Look forward to what God has ahead for you. Look with your eyes of faith and see all the good things that God created you to achieve!
Forget about what happened before and press, press, Press! Press past your past, and press into your purpose. God is calling you, and He will bring you to your place of purpose. All you have to do is keep moving forward. Start fresh.
