Many people have excuses as to why they don’t allow themselves the joy of dreaming: I don’t want to get my hopes up too high… I don’t want to waste time on fantasy, I’ve got to focus on what’s real… Why think about something that’s not going to happen?
What if I told you that dreaming can be a bridge to help you improve your life? What if I showed you that dreaming can help that ‘fantasy’ become a reality?
Dream on Purpose. It is important that you aren’t just dreaming to dream. We all can sit and day dream of things that do not matter. I am referring to your future. What do you want it to look like ideally? If you had your say, what would you enjoy doing with your time, talents, and treasure? Where would you like to go? This is the dream of purpose.
Dreaming stretches your thinking. The amazing thing about dreams is that anything is possible within them. You can pursue the height of your imagination by just letting go of your internal boundaries. Purposeful dreaming – concentrating on what you’d like to see happen and envisioning where you would like to go in life – allows your brain to look at scenarios and place yourself in situations that may have never occurred to you before.
During a time of purposeful dreaming, you could stumble across something that connects with your true purpose in life. You could discover a desire that was hidden from you your whole life. On the flip side, purposeful dreaming could show you a deeper level of your destiny. You could find yourself thinking about strategies and goals that you don’t even have in your current game plan.
Dreaming stirs your motivation. I try to take a couple of moments a day to dream. Dreaming about where I’m going and what it’s going to look like when I get there stirs my motivation to get there all the more. Just thinking about my place of destiny gets my motor running, and I’m ready to go back to work with even more gusto!
Make sure on your journey to your destiny that you take time to do some purposeful dreaming. The road of life is hard and full of obstacles. The road to one’s destiny and purpose in life can be even doubly so. Giving yourself time to remember what you’re working toward will inspire you to keep working.
Dream to do. The key to purposeful dreaming is to not get stuck in dream mode! Don’t just stick to kicking ideas around in your head! Go out and put some action behind the dream. Put some work into what you saw. Put some faith behind your vision!
God has given us this encouraging word in Ephesians 3:20. He is …able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (NLT) Through God’s power, we can do even more than what we can dream! We just have to allow His power to work in us. Part of allowing Him to work in us is for us to step out in faith, and faith without works is dead. (James 2:26)
